PUMORI EXPEDITION

Rising to an elevation of 7,161 meters (23,494 feet), Pumori is one of the most iconic and sought-after climbing peaks in the Nepal Himalayas. Located in the Khumbu region on the Nepal–Tibet border, Pumori stands just west of Mount Everest and offers an exhilarating challenge for experienced mountaineers seeking a technically demanding expedition in the heart of the Himalayas.

Known as the "Unmarried Daughter" in the Sherpa language, the mountain was named by British mountaineer George Mallory during the 1921 Everest reconnaissance expedition. Pumori forms part of the Mahalangur Himal range and is surrounded by the Khumbu and Rongbuk glaciers, creating a dramatic alpine landscape.

The journey to Pumori begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a classic trek through the legendary Khumbu Valley. The route passes through renowned Sherpa villages, including Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche, before reaching Gorak Shep and Pumori Base Camp.

The standard climbing route follows the southeast ridge, combining glacier travel, steep snow slopes, and technical sections that require previous high-altitude mountaineering experience. The reward for reaching the summit is an unforgettable panorama featuring four of the world's highest peaks—Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
